Dedicated to the brave nuclear plant workers of Japan - ‘You Stayed’
A comment on one of the posts on the main page inspired me to write this. Enjoy, and pass it along to as many people as you like.
“You stayed”
When the noise grew from bad to worse,
through this stifling nuclear curse,
You knew your duty, clear and terse.
A nation stands and honors you,
for doing the job you needed to do,
when the skies above were dreary and grayed,
you stayed.
The heat is rising hour by hour,
but still you’re there, unforgivably dour,
driven by some indescribable power.
It’s getting pretty fierce outside,
but in the grim you still abide.
We will always remember the price you paid.
You stayed.
Sweat it fills your face and brow,
still you’re going strong, but how?
A lesser man would be down by now.
You carry out your duty, not for yourself,
but for the millions dying for help.
Even as all the nerves grew frayed,
you stayed.
Even if you disappear within the cloud,
you did your country and mankind proud,
Your true spirit clear, strong, avowed.
Real heroes want not money or fame,
or to play the political game.
You were selfless,stoic and unafraid,
until the bitter end…
…you stayed.
